Orkhonii Steppe

A sprawling grassland characterized by verdant river valleys, rolling hills, and herds of wild horses which creates a panorama that seems to stretch endlessly into the horizon. Rivers and streams crisscross the steppe, carving out valleys and providing vital water sources. These waterways are often lined with denser vegetation, creating oases of deep greenery amidst the field. The largest river is called the Altai and cuts through the heart of the Orkhonii. Dominant flora consists of feather grasses and spiny shrubs, though the higher northern ranges support pockets of broadleaf deciduous forest. The region features temperate summers and frigid, windy winters, which means only select animals can exist here. Many are programmed to traverse vast distances in extreme weather. Common species include grouse, pheasant, vulture, eagle, vole, lemming, wild cat, gazelle, burro and herds of przewalski’s horse.
